TNI Bureau: BJD is set to welcome former IAS officer Sujata Rout Karthikeyan into the party, senior leader Manmath Routray said on Monday, asserting that reports of her joining the regional outfit are “100 per cent true.”
He said Sujata is expected to join the Biju Janata Dal soon and will receive a grand welcome from party leaders and workers. He added that the decision on her role and responsibilities in the party will be taken by BJD president Naveen Patnaik.
Manmath clarified that Sujata would not be joining the party for any major organisational position, but would work for Odisha’s development and public service. He said her administrative experience would strengthen the party and energise its cadre ahead of future political challenges.
According to sources, Sujata will make an official entry in July 2026. BJD President Naveen Patnaik is likely to convey this decision to all party leaders over the next few days.
