TNI Bureau: The CID Crime Branch Odisha has arrested the main accused in the murder case of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain, which took place on May 7 under Balianta Police Station area.

The accused, Binod Kumar Behera (48), a resident of Satya Nagar in Bhubaneswar, was apprehended from Indupur area of Kendrapara district on Sunday night based on substantial evidence collected during the investigation.

According to the Crime Branch, investigation revealed the involvement of the accused persons in the assault leading to the death of the GRP constable in the Bhingarpur–Kaja area under Balianta police limits.

So far, 16 accused persons have been arrested in connection with the case. The Crime Branch said the investigation is continuing on priority basis, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other persons involved in the incident.
