Jaswant Singh wages losing Battle against Hamid Ansari

Date:

TNI Bureau: After winning the support of allies and some Opposition parties in the Presidential Polls 2012, the Congress Party snubbed the BJP and announced the candidature of Dr. Hamid Ansari for the Vice Presidential Polls. All allies of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, BSP, RJD, CPI(M), Forward Bloc and JMM extended their support to Ansari.

With the massive support from maximum political parties, Dr. Ansari is all set to get re-elected as the Vice President. He will be the first Vice President to get a second term after former VP Dr. S Radhakrishnan.

To make the contest more interesting, BJP fielded seasoned politician Jaswant Singh as the NDA candidate. However, other parties haven’t showed any interest in Jaswant, making him fighting a losing battle. The BJP did not want to give the UPA a walkover, but the party knows it cannot win the VP polls under any circumstances.
