The incident has sparked political controversy, with senior Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) leader Bhakta Charan Das strongly condemning the alleged negligence. He described the incident as deeply distressing and accused the organisers of gross irresponsibility in disposing of leftover food after the programme.

Bhakta Charan Das said it was unfortunate that a party which seeks votes in the name of cow protection was linked to an incident that allegedly led to the death of several cows. He urged the “double engine” government to take strict action against those responsible instead of turning a blind eye.

The incident has raised concerns over animal welfare and waste management practices during political and public events. Local authorities are expected to examine the matter and determine accountability.
