Zubin Mehta gears up for Music Concert at Dal Lake

Renowned India-born music conductor Zubin Mehta is all set to rock the stage in Kashmir valley with his music concert on Saturday. Despite threats from the separatist politicians, he wished his ‘Ehsaas-e-Kashmir’ concert to be a grand success in Srinagar.

The security has been tightened to avoid any tension for the musical performance that would be telecast live in 104 countries. After he reached the valley on Friday evening, Mehta said shared his feelings towards the valley saying, ‘Kashmir is beautiful’. He will conduct a 90-minute concert in the 17th century Shalimar Mughal Garden on the banks of the Dal Lake on Saturday evening. Around 1500 people including Politicians, Diplomats, business leaders, film stars, law makers, and civil servants have been invited to the show.

Bollywood actor Gul Panag, will host the show. According to her, “Music transcends disputes, goes beyond political and ideological boundaries, and encourages hope. This concert will get Kashmir into limelight for something positive.”

However, Mehta faced opposition from the separatist groups. Students also protested at Kashmir University opposing the concert. Andrabi, chief of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, said that Mehta was the director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The organisation held Israel responsible for the killing of innocent Muslims.
