Zaibunissa gets 4 Week’s Time to Surrender

After the media took up the issue of relief to Sanjay Dutt and not to others by triggering a huge debate over the judicial system, the Supreme Court granted four weeks’ time to Zaibunissa and three others to surrender. Earlier, the SC had rejected Zaibunissa’s plea, but gave four weeks’ time to Sanjay Dutt.

The 70-year-old Zaibunissa, who was convicted in connection with the 1993 bomb blasts, had earlier sought mercy because of her illness and old age, but the court had rejected it. However, as today she just sought time to surrender, the apex court granted her the relief.

Apart from Zaibunissa, KC Adjania, Abdul Gafoor Parkera and Ishad Md Hajwane also got four weeks’ time to surrender so that they can complete their jail term. Earlier in the day, Abdul Razak Memon, Altaf Ali Sayed and Yusuf Mohsin Nulwalla were also given four more weeks to surrender. However, Yusuf Khan’s plea was rejected, as he sought the relief for treatment. The court observed that he could get treatment inside the jail.
