TNI Bureau: The rift within the BJP was revealed when senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha demanded party president Nitin Gadkari’s resignation over alleged irregularities in Purti group in Maharashtra. Targeting Gadkari, Sinha said that those in public life should be beyond reproach.
Even though, the RSS has given Gadkari a clean chit over the question of leadership change, former finance minister Shina’s demand will put Gadkari in fresh trouble.
Sinha said that whether Gadkari is guilty of the graft or not, that is not an issue, but he should quit as party’s president. Earlier, Supreme Court lawyer Ram Jethmalani had sought Gadkari’s resignation over the allegations of corruption.
Meanwhile, the BJP has come out in support of Gadkari and expressed displeasure over Yashwant Singh’s public spat. The party also urged Sinha to reconsider his stand on Gadkari.
