TNI Bureau: China unveiled its new leader Xi Jinping as the general secretary of the country’s ruling Communist Party. He will take control of the party from outgoing President Hu Jintao in March for the next decade. The country expects more economic reforms from the new leader to overcome the issues and crisis.
Xi along with other members Li Keqiang, North Korean-trained economist Zhang Dejiang, propaganda chief Liu Yunshan, Vice Premier Wang Qishan, Shanghai party boss Yu Zhengsheng and Tanjian party boss Zhang Gaoli marched towards the stage of Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on Thursday. He is likely to quit his position in the Central Military Commission.
The 59-year-old leader is a son of a revolutionary leader. He will meet all the major challenges including the slow economy and growing corruption in the government.
In his brief speech, Xi he promised to crack down on corruption, bring the leadership closer to the people and bring economic reforms to provide a better life to China’s 1.3 billion people.
