TNI Bureau: While India is outraged over the crime against women in the country, another incident came as a shocker. A woman from Karnataka was sold at Rs 1 lakh to a man and she was raped by him several times at a house in New Delhi.
The victim (20) managed to escape from the man and approached the city police. A case has been registered with Ghazipur police station in East district after the arrest of three people including two women.
Police said that the victim is already married. She was staying with her husband in Bangalore. She was trapped by human trafficking gang after a minor altercation with her husband on January 1. She was brought to Delhi where she was sold to man for Rs 1 lakh. As per the deal, she was handed over to the buyer named Zakir on January 6. She was kept in a house in Mulla Colony at Ghazipur where the buyer was raping her several times.
It is also alleged that the woman was given drugs while she was in his custody. Another woman Geeta, who was also the part of the gang, was keeping a watch on the victim in the house. The buyer and Geeta were planning to sell the woman against to the clients in Mumbai and Pune. However, she managed to flee on January 9.
Zakir had earlier allegedly sold a woman at a brothel at central Delhi’s GB Road. The case occurred while the students and women groups were protesting against crime against women in the national capital. While the government is taking initiatives to check the growing number of crime, rape and gangrape, the recent incident shows how much safe a woman is in this country.
