TNI Bureau: Expressing displeasure over the repeated adjournments and disruptions of Question Hour in the Upper House, Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari said that the Question Hour should be scrapped and the segment of proceedings should be “dispensed with” or shifted to some other part of the day.

Ansari blasted on the BJP members for disrupting the proceedings of the House over the Wal-Mart lobbying issue. They were demanding the suspension of the Question Hour in the House to discuss Wal-Mart issue. Even SP members created uproar over the quota in promotion in government jobs, which made the vice-president angry.

Ansari lost his cool and said that it would be pertinent to dispense with the Question Hour altogether or have it at another time of the day.

“I propose two options…Question Hour should be moved to other part of day…Two, members do not seem to attach much importance to questions answered, the Question Hour should be dispensed with all together,” Ansari said.

Ansari’s anger was revealed after the House was repeatedly being adjourned for two days over the Wal-Mart lobbying report. The opposition members are not allowing the House to run smoothly.
