War on Coal continues, Parliament adjourned till Thursday

TNI Bureau: The war between Congress and BJP on coal blocks allocation is now open after Congress president Sonia Gandhi asked her partymen to stay united to fight against opposition’s negative politics. While Congress went on offensive mode, BJP stayed firm on its demand seeking the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that led to continuous adjournment of the Parliament today.

Both the Houses: Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till Thursday following continuous disruption of the proceedings today. While, the Congress slammed the opposition for not allowing the houses to function well, BJP was stick to their demand.

The BJP members walked to the well of the House in the Rajya Sabha shouting slogans demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation. Even though, Sonia Gandhi met BJP MP Kirti Azad in an attempt to end the deadlock, the opposition was in no mood to listen to them.

Even Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde also met BJP leaders, but their attempt seemed to bear no fruit.

The opposition fumed when Sonia asked her MPs at a party meeting today morning to rebut and repel the BJP in the upcoming elections. Her remarks “blackmail is BJP’s bread and butter” triggered war of words between two national parties.

Sonia hit back BJP at the meeting holding the main opposition responsible for not allowing parliament to run smoothly. She said that the government is ready for the debate over the issue, but the blackmail has become the bread and butter of the BJP.

Referring indirectly to Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj’s ‘mota maal’ remarks, Sonia said, “This is the handiwork of BJP, which shows scant respect for democracy. What more can be said when their senior most leader uses such words.”

“We need to fight the intemperate criticism and negative politics of BJP. They are holding Parliament to ransom,” Sonia said.

Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari said that the party workers will hit the streets across the country and tell the truth about BJP’s negative politics.
