Violence returns to Assam, Six Killed

TNI Bureau: At least six people were killed and several others injured, as violence returned to Assam after a brief lull. Clashes were reported from the Bodoland Territorial Administered Districts (BTAD). violence started on Saturday and still continues. Two people were killed in Kokrajhar on Thursday.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has sought help from the Indian Army. Curfew has been imposed in several areas. The Army has been conducting flag marches. A high level meeting of the state government would be held on Friday to discuss the situation.

In July-August, at least 90 people were killed and over five lakh people were rendered homeless in the communal clashes in the BTAD districts.
