Veteran Actress Zohra Sehgal dies at 102

Popular Bollywood actress Zohra Sehgal passed away at the Max Hospital in New Delhi at the age of 102. She died of a cardiac arrest at around 4 PM. Zohra Sehgal would be cremated at the Lodhi Road Crematorium tomorrow.

Born on April 27, 1912, Zohra began her career as a Dancer. She went on to act in hundreds of films with the last appearance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s ‘Saawariya’ in 2007. Zohra turned to TV series in 1964 and there was no looking back after that.

Zohra’s acting in ‘Tamanna’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Dil Se’ and ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ was widely appreciated. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1998, Kalidas Samman in 2001 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2004. She received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, in 2010.
