Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna drew flak from the locals in Joshimath where he visited to oversee the rescue and relief operations today after the Monsoon fury brought maximum devastation in the state. The death toll had reached over 150 till yesterday.
The angry locals shouted slogans against Bahuguna for reportedly showing less concern towards them. The rescue operations are still on. The Army is planning to deploy 100 paratroopers on the Gaurikund-Sonprayag road.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced Rs 1000 crore relief for the state after making an aerial survey with Congress President Sonia Gandhi yesterday.
The state is likely to witness more rainfall from June 23 as per the weather forecast by the Uttarakhand Met department. The sky will remain cloudy after June 22 which will affect the rescue operations.
