When he was playing cricket, he packed his bags, walked out of the England tour and returned to India due to differences with then captain Mohd. Azharuddin. And, today, he not only snubbed the BJP, but also the President of India, who nominated him to Rajya Sabha three months ago.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is known as an unpredictable person, quit Rajya Sabha after being denied a Ministerial berth in the recent Cabinet reshuffle. If we believe the sources, he has been offered the post of Campaign Chief of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab and will be made CM if the party comes to power.
Sidhu and his wife have been in touch with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for a long time. On April 1, 2016, his wife, a MLA herself, had announced her resignation from the party on Facebook, but made a retreat later. BJP tried to woo Sidhu by nominating him to Rajya Sabha. But, that was not enough.
Sidhu knows AAP has a great chance of coming to power in Punjab, but lacks a strong local face to lead the party. He wants to fill up that vacuum. A CM’s post definitely looks lucrative. But, can he accept the AAP ideology he rejected not long ago? It would be interesting to see how Kejriwal handles Sidhu, who only listens to himself.
