In a shocking development this morning, a man killed three people, including Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Atulya Chandra Meher in Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Doctor’s wife was injured in the attack. The police nabbed the attacker with serious injuries. He was identified as SS Samal, a Medical Representative, who also owns a Medicine Store in Sailashree Vihar.
Besides the Doctor, caretaker of his house, Prashant Behera and his son also died in the attack. According to Police Commissioner RP Sharma, the man had attacked Prashant, his wife (Runu Behera) and son (Minu Behera). Prashant’s wife was badly injured and shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. After killing Prashant and his son, Sneha Samal caught hold of the doctor and stabbed him several times, leaving him dead. Before killing the doctor, he asked his wife for a glass of water. The police was surprised why he did not attack the doctor’s wife and mother who were present at the spot and pleading with him not to murder Dr. Meher. The entire murder was captured on CCTV camera.
The police is questioning Dr. Meher’s wife to get more details in the case. The attacker was badly injured in the scuffle. He was nabbed by an auto driver and other youths of the locality, while leaving the spot after committing crime. He reportedly entered the compound with a bouquet of flowers, but was carrying a sharp knife, which he used to attack the people.
