TNI Bureau: Pattaya is akin to a seedy bachelors’ paradise. Thailand’s sexiest city Pattaya offers sunny beaches, Golfing, amusement parks, lovely offshore islands and of course, its naughty nightlife. It also provides the bungee jumping, motor sports, the real Thai massage and spas. Specialty of Pattaya is the ‘go go bars’. These are located in and around the Walking Street, a well-known place over there. These bars pull most of the punters to this beach town. ‘Go Go’ bar features girls in g-string bikinis, shuffling around in an Ultra Violet-lit atmosphere with loud music.
Pattaya is a seaside resort on the Eastern Gulf Coast of Thailand, about 150-km southeast of Bangkok. Besides sex tourism, the resort also attracts families and holidaymakers from around the world. In 2011, Pattaya won the major travel destination award and recently it has been named as ‘the Golf Destination of the Year 2012 for Australasia and Asia’ by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators. It means undoubtedly Pattaya is the finest place for Gulf.
Pattaya is more an activity city than a sightseeing destination, since it’s a moderately modern place built around tourism and enjoyment. However, there are a number of remarkable sights like the Sanctuary of Truth and the view point on the bluff at the southern end of Pattaya bay. The other attractions in and around the city are the zoos, tropical gardens, elephant camps and mini replica displays.
In terms of temperature, Pattaya is an excellent destination as the place is out of extremes of heat or cold, making it an all-year-round destination. However the best time to visit the city is between November and March when the weather is pleasantly hot and dry (low 30s Celsius in the day and 20s at night).
The nearest international airport to Pattaya is the Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok. From there one can easily avail the bus, train or taxi service to reach the city. The Bus service is available since early morning till 11 P.M. in the night with a fare of around 120 baht. The buses also link to popular destinations such as Ban Phe, Chantaburi, and Trat there.
Although Pattaya has also a rich cultural history, typical culture of the land almost becomes silent amidst the girlie surrounding. The natives love to present a ‘wai’ to say hello, good bye, thank you and sorry. ‘Wai’ is synonymous to ‘Pranam’ of India. Places to visit around Pattaya are – Pattaya Bay, Jomtien, Koh Larn, the amusement parks of Mini Siam, Nong Nooch Gardens, The Water Park, Tiger Zoo and Sanctuary of Truth. From sunrise to sunset, Pattaya’s beaches constantly brim with life.
