TNI Bureau: Top Infosys executive Shaji Farooq has joined the tech giant Wipro after quitting India’s leading IT firm.

Farooq had been associated with Infosys for the last ten years. He was the head of financial services (consulting) in the US. Wipro officials have reportedly acknowledged Farooq’s joining in the company.

Shaji Farooq has over 20 years of experience in IT industry. He may be the vital asset to Wipro.

In the last one year some other top officials including board member Mohandas Pai, sales head Subhash Dhar and Infosys BPO COO Ritesh Idnani have also reportedly quit Infosys while Farooq’s exit is the latest in the chain.

As per a report in the Business Line, Farooq would be made Senior Vice-President at Wipro and will spearhead the newly created ‘advanced technology’ service line and ‘go-to-market transformation’ businesses that will be overseen by Wipro CEO TK Kurien.

Last year, Infosys underwent re-structuring and is trying to boost revenues through its products and platforms business under its Infosys 3.0 strategy.

In the last few quarters, Infosys has missed its guidance and has also slashed guidance to five per cent growth for the ongoing fiscal, much lower than the sector’s targeted growth of 11-14 per cent.
