TNI Bureau: The war of words between Syria and US indicated that the Syrian crisis is now turning a civil war. The recent UN report on the human massacre in the country added a fuel to take on the Middle East nation.
The UN said that the crisis in Syria is sowing seeds for the civil war. Recently, the US accused Russia of supplying choppers to Syria and the nation counter attacked the US accusing it of “blatant interference”.
Peacekeeping chief Herve Ladsous is the first UN official to acknowledge publicly that the violence in Syria is brewing and heading for civil war.
Talking to two news agencies, he said, “Yes, I think we can say that, clearly what is happening is that the government of Syria lost some large chunks of territory, several cities to the opposition, and wants to retake control.”
His spokesman, Kieran Dwyer, confirmed his remarks saying, “Whether we call it all-out civil war ,whether we call it partial civil war, civil war in some places, the point is that it’s hugely escalated, that it’s across nearly all parts of the country and that the civilians, ordinary Syrian people, are the ones that are suffering.”
The recent UN report can never be ignored, which said that children were tortured, maimed and killed by the rebel forces in the Middle East nation. Even the report described the heinous part of the story saying, kids were used as human shields on the tanks to prevent attacks by the opposite forces.
Most of the victims were beaten, blindfolded, subjected to stress positions, whipped with heavy electrical cables, scarred by cigarette burns and even subjected to electrical shock to the genitals, the report said. It said that dozens witness the accounts.
The kids were tortured because their siblings or parents were assumed to be members of the opposition or FSA, or they themselves were suspected of being associated with FSA.
