Surveys: BJP ahead of Congress, Modi beats Rahul

TNI Bureau: After Rahul Gandhi’s coronation as the vice-president of Congress, party leaders seem to be confident enough to win the 2014 polls with huge majority under the leadership of Gandhi scion. However, Media surveys showed that BJP will sweep the polls under the leadership of Narendra Modi if it is held for now.

According to ABP News-Nielsen survey conducted this month in 28 cities across the country, NDA will win if Narendra Modi will be prime ministerial candidate . Only 22% of the respondents intended to vote for the UPA while 39% people agreed to vote for the NDA for the change in politics and government.

The survey said that 36% of respondents are intending to vote for BJP, if the Lok Sabha elections are held now. However, only 18% will vote for Sonia Gandhi-led Congress party.

It can be noted that the survey by ABP news was done before the appointment of Rahul Gandhi as Congress vice president, the second post in the party, and Nitin Gadkari’s resignation as BJP president.

If we will analyse previous survey, 34 per cent of the respondents had voted for BJP in the 2009 general election whereas 25 per cent gave their thumbs up to the Congress.

On the other hand, the UPA government will not manage to come to power in the next general election as predicted by India Today. The growing corruption, anarchy, failure of good governance and popularity ratings will take the Congress to taste defeat from the NDA.

According to the survey by India Today-Nielsen “Mood of the Nation” poll, if the elections will be held now, the UPA will get 152-162 seats, below its 2009 figure of 259.

After Nitin Gadkari’s resignation over the allegation of corruption, the BJP has managed to retain its clear image. The NDA is predicted to get 198-208 seats, with a vote share of 27.3%.

The BJP is gaining popularity after Gujarat Chief Minister was back to power in the state with huge majority. The survey conducted by Nielsen said that Modi would be the best candidate for the Prime Minister’s post.
