By Himanshu Guru: While entire Maharashtra, including the Bollywood is mourning the death of Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray, reaction of two super stars need to be discussed. Salman Khan took the lead to cancel his shooting and visit ailing Shiv Sena leader, but Shahrukh and Aamir failed to do so.
Shahrukh Khan lately expressed his condolence, but Aamir is still silent. Several actors from Bollywood had also visited ailing Thackeray at his residence ‘Matoshree’ during his last days.
Shahrukh finally tweeted on Nov 18, “We avoid building bridges out of personal issues & then it gets too late. I should have gone & met BalaSahib. Will miss our chats R.I.P. sır…” over Bal Thackeray’s demise. From this tweet, we can see that the actor must be feeling guilty for not resolving the differences with Balasaheb Thackeray.
Relation between Shiv Sena and Shahrukh Khan turned sour when Shiv Sena had threatened to halt the screening of ‘My Name in Khan’ over the dispute of allowing Pakistani cricketers to play in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), owned by Shahrukh during IPL 2008.
Later, Shiv Sena had also criticized SRK in the Wankhede Stadium episode in Mumbai where allegedly drunken khan had a fight with a security official during another IPL match in 2012.
Aamir Khan has not yet reacted to the demise of Thackeray despite the latter had praised him a lot for his reality talk show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. Thackeray had even conveyed his dissatisfaction in an editorial in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ over Karnataka’s decision that the show was unacceptable to Kannada filmmakers. He saw this act of Karnataka as a sign of parochialism that had overtaken patriotism.
