The division within the BCCI forced defiant N Srinivasan to cancel his plan to take over as the BCCI President and chair the Working Committee Meeting in New Delhi today, but he asked the Board to move the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court verdict, which termed the IPL Probe Panel as “illegal” and “unconstitutional”.
The probe panel appointed by the BCCI had given a clean chit to Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan (CSK Owner) and Rajasthan Royals’ Co-Owner Raj Kundra in the spot-fixing scandal. However, the Bombay High Court termed the panel illegal and asked the BCCI to form a new panel to conduct the probe.
Despite this, Srinivasan had taken over some responsibilities and was adamant to chair the Working Committee meeting. He is still not willing to give up and is hopeful of making return once he gets a breather from the apex court. The BCCI argued that the panel was formed in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the IPL.
