Beleaguered BCCI President N Srinivasan put up a volt face and refused to resign even as pressure mounts on him to step down after his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s arrest in connection with betting and spot-fixing allegations. Srinivasan accused the media of running a trial against him.
Srinivasan claimed that not a single Board member has asked for his resignation and blamed the media for the impasse. “I have done nothing wrong. I cannot be bulldozed into resigning. I am doing my job right and cannot be liable for my relative’s deeds,” he said.
Srinivasan refused to accept the Meiyappan was the CSK CEO. He stunned everyone with his shocking and ridiculous claim that Gurunath Meiyappan was present at the CSK box as an “enthusiast”. The commission to be appointed by the BCCI would look into all allegations, he said. Srini further clarified that he won’t interfere in the probe process.
Srinivasan, who is in Kolkata to watch the IPL 6 final tonight, is all set to present the trophy to the winning team.
