TNI Bureau: Sri Lanka bounced back strongly to decimate India by 9 wickets in the second ODI in Hambantota and levelled the five-match series 1-1 with three matches to go. The Indian batting order collapsed like a pack of cards in today’s match.
India won the toss and elected to bat first like they did in the first ODI. Forget about a 300+ score, the team bowled out for 138 in 33.3 overs. Gautam Gambhir made 65, while R Ashwin scored 21. For Sri Lanka, Perera and Mathews took three wickets each. Malinga claimed two wickets.
Sri Lankan batsmen made a mockery of the Indian bowling attack and added 119 runs for the first wicket while chasing a victory target of 139. Sri Lanka reached 139/1 in 19.5 overs and won the match by 9 wickets. Tharanga remained unbeaten on 59, while Dilshan made 50. Thisara Perera was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
