1) Russia’s Maria Sharapova won the French Open Women’s Singles Title, with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 victory over Romania’s Simona Halep at Roland Garros. She had won the title in 2012, but lost to Serena Williams in the final last year.

2) Rafael Nadal (Spain) won the French Open title for the ninth time, and the fifth time in a row, by beating Novak Djokovic (Serbia) 3—6, 7—5, 6—2, 6—4 in the final. It was also Nadal’s 14th Grand Slam title. He has now taken his win-loss ratio to 66:1 at the French Open.
