For the first time ever, the nation got a chance to watch two tall leaders of the BJP and Congress addressing the gathering at the same time. While Narendra Modi was roaring in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, Rahul Gandhi was making his point in Delhi’s Mongolpuri. The TV Channels tried to cover both speeches in one screen. But, within a few minutes, the focus was shifted to NaMo and RaGa vanished from the screens.
The TV channels knew people wanted to hear NaMo, not RaGa. And, they bother about their TRPs and viewership. As a result, within minutes, we could see only Modi’s speech, while Rahul made a disappearing act from the TV screens, even as his speech was going on simultaneously. It proved beyond doubt that the euphoria over Narendra Modi is not unfounded cannot be underestimated any more.
While Modi wooed the crowd with his great oratory skills and impressed the crowd with his strong statements, Rahul was busy in explaining the Congress policies and reforms, which were hard to convince the common people, which have been at the receiving end due to high price rise, corruption and many other issues. The TV channels probably gauged the public mood and turned the camera on BJP’s “great leader and crowd puller” – Narendra Modi.
