TNI Bureau: In a significant judgment, a South Korean court ordered the chemical castration for a 31-year-old man, who was accused of raping many minors. The ruling came during a very crucial period when India is outraged over the brutal gangrape of 23-year-old girl and the protesters have been demanding the laws like chemical castration to control the growing number of rape/gangrape cases.

The ruling is the first since South Korea had passed a law in 2011 that says that the hormonal treatment or chemical castration for the rapist, who is convicted. The accused was charged with raping the minors and threatening them with deadly weapons.

He was also accused of having sexual relationship with five teenagers. He was motivating and talking with the girls through Smartphone.

The court observed that he has been committing crime due to excessive sexual desires. Beside chemical castration, he has been sentenced to 15 years in jail.

South Korea was the first country in Asia to adopt chemical castration for the rapists. In Europe, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and also the US state of California have the laws for chemical castration for the convict.
