TNI Bureau: South Africa gained the top spot in the Reliance ICC Test Championship table after beating England 2-0 in the three-match series that ended in Lord’s on Monday.
England’s defeat brought an end to their number one spot in the world Test rankings. The team had been on top since August 2011 when it defeated India.
South Africa is now the number one team with 120 points pushing England (117 points) and Australia (116 points) to 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Pakistan and India placed at fourth and fifth with 109 and 104 rating points respectively in the Reliance ICC Test Championship table.
Sri Lanka (98 points), West Indies (90 points), New Zealand (80 points) and Bangladesh placed sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth in the world Test rankings.
