TNI Bureau: Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has decided not to play the Indian Premier League (IPL) anymore. He has requested the franchise owners not to consider him for the sixth season of the tournament next year. The cricketer was playing for Sahara Pune Warriors in IPL.
The reports were revealed when he told on Sunday that he had a wonderful time playing in the IPL for five seasons, but he can’t continue it forever.
Ganguly had played the first three seasons of IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders and was made captain of the Pune warriors in IPL5 after Pune’s regular captain Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with cancer. His team finished last in the nine-team edition in the last IPL.
The cricketer had faced a lot humiliation for not being considered by any of the franchises during the 2011 auctions. Later, he was placed in Pune team following an injury to Ashish Nehra. He was the captain in the fifth season of IPL.
