A shoe was hurled at Pakistan former President Pervez Musharraf, who has returned home after being in self-imposed exile since 2009, outside the Sindh High Court today. However, it it did not hit him and he escaped unhurt.
It is unknown from where the shoe was thrown. TV channels showed that the shoe missed its target and fell a few feet in front of Musharraf. He was outside the court where a group of people were shouting slogans against him after the court extended his bail by 15 days. Earlier, he was granted bail for 10 days.
The 69-year-old Musharraf was surrounded by security personnel and TV cameramen. He had to appear the court seeking extension of his bail before arrest. He is accused of conspiracy to murder and illegally arresting judges. The anti-terrorism court had declared him a fugitive and issued arrest warrants after he refused to cooperate with the investigators in the probe into Bhutto’s killing.
The former strongman is confident to win the May 11 elections. He heads the political party All Pakistan Muslim League (APML).
