TNI BUreau: A day after Maharashtra Tiger and Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray was cremated at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the party demanded a memorial to be built at the park, next to the memorial to Chhattrapati Shivaji, for their leader.
Former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi asked why the ruling government will not allow them to construct a memorial for Thackeray as he is the ideal for lakhs of Mumbaikers.
The strongman mingled with five elements was he was cremated with full state honours on Sunday evening at Shivaji Park. Over 30 lakh people had gathered at the park to pay their last respect to their most lovable leader. Thackeray passed away on Saturday at around 3:30 pm following a cardiac arrest. He was suffering from ailments related to lungs and pancreas.
Sheding tears for Thackeray, the Mumbai buss associations decided to close the services for a day on Monday. Even the schools, which were about to be opened on Monday after Diwali, remained closed for a day today.
