TNI Bureau: Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who dared to take on Narendra Modi, by making startling revealations related to 2002 Godhra riots, has been charged in a 1990 custodial death case. Charges were framed against six others too.
A person, namely Prabhudas Vaishnani, died in custody on the night of October 30, 1990. In 1996, murder charges were filed against Sanjiv Bhatt (then ASP) and others.
Last year, a trial court had rejected Bhatt’s plea for qushing of the charges against him. Bhatt has been under suspension on other charges after he accused Narendra Modi of direcing the state police to go slow on rioters in February 2002.
