Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is convicted in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, moved the Supreme Court seeking more time to surrender as several films are at his hand and he needs to complete those.

The actor was sentenced in March to over three years in jail for illegally owning weapons including an AK-56 in a case linked to the 1993 bomb blasts in Mumbai that had claimed 200 lives. The apex court had directed him to surrender by April 18 for the sentence.
Last month, the actor had said that he would not appeal against his sentence after the Supreme Court’s verdict in the case sparked debate among statesmen. Even Press Council of India Chairman Markandey Katju had batted for Dutt. He wrote to the Maharashtra Governor K Sankarnarayanan seeking pardon for the actor.
The apex court had sentenced him to five years. But it was reduced to three and half years as Dutt has already served 18 months in jail.
