India’s ace shuttler and Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal clinched her maiden China Open Super Series Premier title, which is the third title of her career this year. World No. 5 Saina defeated Japanese Akane Yamaguchi 21-12, 22-20 in 42 minute in the final. Saina had beaten three Chinese players in three days on their soil to reach the final.
In the Men’s section, Kidambi Srikanth caused a major upset by defeating five-time world champion and Olympic champion Lin Dan of China 21-19, 21-17 in the men’s singles final, which lasted 46 minutes.
It was a historic day for Indian Badminton, as Indians won titles in both Men’s and Women’s sections.
