Sachin Tendulkar to play 200th Test in India

Even as the India-South Africa series is in danger, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has reasons to smile. He will get a chance to play his 200th Test on Indian soil. West Indies will travel to India in November to play two Tests and five ODIs. And, Sachin, who is on 198 now, needs two more tests to achieve the rare “double hundred”.

It is strongly believed that Sachin will retire from Test cricket after his playing his 200th match. So, the BCCI has decided to give him a tribute by holding the second Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Tendulkar, who had already retired from the ODIs, will become the first player in the cricket history to play 200 Tests.

The BCCI wants to make the India-West Indies series a memorable one, as the world will watch Sachin playing his last Test. That match will bring to an end to a glorious Tendular era, which began in 1989-90 and would last for 23 years. No sportsperson in world history has been active in the game for such a long period without a break!

Sachin has played 198 Tests and scored 15,837 runs so far. He has scored 51 hundreds with the highest score being 248*. His average stands at 53.9. His last Test hundred (146 vs South Africa, Cape Town, Jan 4, 2011) was 21 Tests ago. He has not been able to score a Test hundred in the last 32 months. Hopefully, he won’t disappoint the fans this time and end his career on a high.
