TNI Bureau: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who has achieved a series of milestones throughout his never-ending 22-year-long illustrious cricket career, has opened another innings today, as he took oath as the Rajya Sabha MP.
Tendulkar took the oath inside Vice President Dr. Hamid Ansari’s chamber this morning. He was accompanied by wife Anjali and Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla. Many Congress MPs and Ministers were present at the private oath-taking ceremony.
Sachin Tendulkar became the first playing cricketer and first-ever active sportsperson to become Rajya Sabha MP. Sachin described this moment as big, but made it clear that cricket will remain the first priority for him, as he achieved everything for that game only.
Sachin was nominated to Rajya Sabha by the President of India along with Bollywood Actress Rekha and Industrialist Anu Agha. Rekha and Anu took the oath earlier, but Sachin could not because of his hectic IPL schedule.
After taking oath, Sachin said that he would continue playing cricket and try to do something for cricket and other sports in the country as the Rajya Sabha MP.
