Moments after Mumbai Indians won their first IPL title defeating Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, Sachin Tendulkar announced his retirement from the cash-rich game. With the announcement, his fans were disappointed as they could not see their favourite batsman on crease in next IPL.
Sachin has played 78 IPL matches and scored 2334 at an average of 34.83. He skipped the final match yesterday due his hand injury. However, he was looking more excited to win the trophy. He played only 14 matches this season and made 287 runs at an average of 22.07.
He decided to take retirement from IPL as he thought that it was the right time. The batsman is now 40.
He announced his retirement when Sunil Gavaskar asked him whether he would play the opening match of Mumbai Indians at Wankhede next year. The legend had to wait for 21 years for World Cup and for the IPL trophy he had to wait for six years.
