Rs 32,841.50 lakh sought for Repair of Schools in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, 29th October, 2013: Cyclonic Storm PHAILIN and the resultant Flash Floods in the State has devastated total number of 7234 schools including both 6057 elementary schools and 1177 nos. of High Schools in Odisha. The School & Mass Education Department has estimated approx. some total of Rs. 32841.50 lakh for the immediate repair and restoration work of the damaged school buildings.

Ganjam District has experienced a devastation of damage caused to 1800 nos. of schools including both Elementary and High Schools, total 929 nos. of schools in Cuttack District, 844 total schools in Puri District, 535 nos. of Schools in Balasore District, 378 nos. of Schools in Nayagarh District, 372 schools in Jajpur District, 366 schools in Jagatsinghpur District, 324 schools in Khurda District, 259 schools in Bhadrak District, 231 Schools in Angul District, 220 nos. of schools in Gajapati District, 208 schools in Mayurbhanj District, 173 nos. of schools in Kandhamal District, 171 schools in Boudh District, 128 total schools in Kendrapara District, 86 total schools in Keonjhar District, 85 nos. of schools in Dhenkanal District, 61 schools in Sundargarh District, 56 schools in Rayagada District, 8 nos. of schools in Deogarh District have experienced devastation & severe damage due to cyclonic storm and floods.
