Bhubaneswar: The question was raised over the security of senior citizens in the state capital Bhubaneswar after the murder of a retired bank officer. Police found the dead body of an old man at Kalinga Nagar, on outskirts of the city, less than 6 months after the killing of ex- Superintendent Engineer’s wife in Acharya Vihar.
The deceased was identified as Balaram Sahu (68). His body was found in the first floor of four storey-building in Kalinga Nagar, on Monday. Police said that he was strangulated to death. His hands and legs were tied with a plastic rope.
Mr Sahu was staying alone at plot no. 35 in Block – K8. His five daughters and wife were residing outside Odisha. Police said that his house was locked from outside when they entered the building, indicating that it was a planned murder. He was probably killed on Saturday night.
Police suspected that Mr. Sahu was involved in land dispute and he was attacked by some miscreants a few days ago near his house.
The recent murder of a senior citizen once again raised some questions about law and order situation in Bhubaneswar where the number of crimes is high, compared to other cities of the state.
The incident occurred less than few months after a former superintendent engineer was attacked along with his wife inside a house in Acharya Vihar.
