TNI Bureau: Odisha’s hopes of making it to the quarterfinals of Ranji Trophy, has taken a severe beating after they went down to Baroda by 10 wickets in a crucial Ranji Trophy match in Vadodara. The match ended in less than three days. Odisha escaped the innings defeat by a whisker. Baroda won a bonus point too.
Earlier, Baroda bowled out for 301 in reply to Odisha’s first innings score of 181. It was expected that Odisha batsmen would show great resolve in the second innings, but that did not happen. The entire team bowled out for a paltry 123. Saurabh Sehgal was the top scorer with 23. For Baroda, Ketul Patel took four wickets, while Bhargav Bhatt took two wickets. Niranjan Behera was retired hurt at 2.
Baroda needed just four runs to win the match and they got it through bye runs. Baroda now pushed Odisha to third spot in the points table. Uttar Pradesh still tops the list. They might retain their position by the virtue of first innings lead against Vidarbha.
