TNI Bureau: Two days after the Congress-led UPA decided to give a second term to Vice President Dr. Hamid Ansari, the BJP-led NDA named seasoned politician Jaswant Singh as their candidate for the coveted post.
The JD(U) and Shiv Sena, which backed UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential Polls, have decided to come on board and back the NDA candidate. It’s a big relief for the BJP that the NDA leaders showed unity in the V-P elections.
The BJP is now hopeful of getting the support of AIADMK and BJD in support of its candidate, as the party backed their candidate PA Sangma in the Presidential Polls. The party will also woo Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu to garner their support.
