‘Race 2’ Earns Rs 51 Crore in Three Days

TNI Bureau: Abbas-Mustan’s multi-starrer action thriller ‘Race 2’ has earned Rs. 51.35 crore merely in three days. The film was released on January 25.  It is the sequel of 2008 Race starring Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Ameesha Patel, Jacqueline Fernandez and Rajesh Khattar.

Though Race 2 received mixed reviews from critics, it was hit at the box office. While the film earned Rs. 15.12 cr on the opening day on Friday, it made business of Rs.20.72 cr and Rs. 15.51 cr on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The movie proves that Bollywood audience want to see action, a band of actors in a film and hi-tech shutting output, besides other factors like story, masala, dance etc. Commercial success of the film has shut mouth of all the reviewers, who had assigned a lower gradation to the film. As cited by some reviewers, the performances may be not free from flaws, but the overall acceptance is superb and undoubtedly commercial success makes a great sense in the result of a film.

Race 2 was released in 3200 screens in India and the film is the third biggest release ever for a Hindi film after Ek Tha Tiger (3300 screens) and Dabangg 2(3700 screens).
