Poverty-Stricken Women attempt Suicide in Nabarangpur

By Rakesh Gupta: In a bizarre incident, two women of a BPL family of Nabarangpur are admitted to District head quarter hospital in a severe burning condition.

Fifty-year-old A. Suguna who stays at Pujari Street, Nabarangpur poured kerosene on herself and on her 29-year-old daughter A.Sailaxmi, a +3 student of Nabarangpur College and set fire in her house in the wee hours of today. Her son who was sleeping in the next room however rescued them after hearing their screaming.

Their neighbours also rushed the spot and helped them to reach the hospital. According to the concerned doctors, their conditions are very critical. Moreover, they couldn’t visit other hospital for their better treatment due to their poor financial condition.

When TNI contacted IIC S.K.Das about this incident, he told that he has no information regarding this matter.

Though the cause of the extreme steps were unknown, some close associates of the victim told TNI that the senior woman has taken some private loan and was unable to remit the debt in time. And, that stress might have triggered her to take such extreme step to end their lives.
