“It is difficult for the MPs to understand the real problems of the villages through bureaucrats. Rather, it is the responsibility of the village elders to apprise them of the situation. I expect the same from people of Jayapur. I promise to every bit for them and make sure that they don’t face water problem again”, said Modi.
“Jayapur was the first village I got to know of in Varanasi after I read about five deaths in a fire here. I am amazed to know how “fertile” brain some people have in this village. Then I decided to be associated with it,” revealed the PM.
Modi also made it clear that rural development cannot take place with the help of money. Rather it can be achieved through the power of the people. The PM also said that there have been a lot of shortcomings in the last 60 years, as schemes failed to bring development. There should be proper coordination between the government and common people to make things possible, he said.
Prime Minister Modi raised the female foeticide issue and urged the people of Jayapur to celebrate the birth of girl children. He asked people to plant five trees when a girl is born so that they can sell the trees and arrange money for her marriage when she turns 20. He also talked about cleanliness drive and sanitation. He asked the youth and other people who left the village for studies or jobs to return and celebrate the birthday of their village.
