PiN – From The Archives – “Bijoy Mohapatra with Congress in 2004”

In the 2004 assembly elections, Veteran Leader Bijoy Mohapatra’s Odisha Gana Parishad (OGP) allied with the Indian National Congress against NDA (BJD-BJP Alliance). It was given only 4 seats to contest and got 2 candidates elected to Odisha Assembly.

Arun Dey (Balasore) and Utkal Keshari Parida (Kendrapada) were the only OGP candidates to win. Bijoy Mohapatra lost to Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in Patkura by 2885 votes despite the alliance with Congress.
