Bhubaneswar, January 01, 2013: The State Government is in readiness to implement a Pilot Project to construct mini stadium at Block level at a unit cost of Rs. 25 lakh from this fiscal year. At least 50 mini stadium will be taken up for which Sport and Youth Services Department as allocated 4.53 crore out of State Budget.
Each unit will be dove tailed with 10 lakhs from MGNREGA, 10 lakhs from Sports & Youth Services Department and 5 lakhs from MP/MLA LAD fund or from any other sources. This will be implemented on first come first serve basis.
The Block authority will identify the land and assure the MP/MLA LAD fund to go for the project. Blocks uncovered under PYKKA scheme of Central Government will be taken-up in this pilot project. The Block where 5 acres of land is available will be given priority for this project.
The execution of work comprises of construction of separate toilet for men and women, changing room, multi-purpose hall, drinking water provision, signage, compound wall and leveling of land. Successful implementation of the projects may be converted as regular project in future said the Minister, Sri Ramesh Chandra Majhi. Earlier no such provision was made by the Sports Department for construction of mini stadium at Block level in the State.
