Petrol Price hiked by Rs. 1.82 per litre

Date:

The oil companies increased the petrol price by Rs 1.82 per litre (excluding VAT) as the decline in the rupee for the past few weeks against US dollar made the oil imports costlier. The actual increase of the petrol for consumers is higher in some major cities. It was hiked by Rs 2.19 per litre in Bhubaneswar.

Petrol-Price-HikeAfter the hike, the consumers will have to pay Rs 68.58 per litre in Delhi, Rs. 76.10 (Kolkata), Rs. 76.90 (Mumbai), Rs. 71.71 (Chennai).

This is the third increase in the petrol prices this month. The opposition BJP blamed the Congress for the hike that would put extra burden on the consumers. They said that the fresh hike is a result of wrong economic policies of the UPA government for the last nine years.

On the other hand, the rupee continued to decline against American dollars. Further, the international gasoline (petrol) prices also increased from $113.84 per barrel to $115.29 a barrel.
