TNI Bureau: Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar bagged double grammy awards, two months after his death. He won the best world music album for “The Living Room Sessions Part 1”. He was also honoured with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement award. His presence was felt by all when his daughters received his awards.
The legend’s daughter Anoushka, who is also a Sitar player and composer and was nominated in the same category for her album “Traveller”, received the best world music album award for her father at the Grammy awards show on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, she along with her sister Norah Jones, who is a singer, had received the posthumous Grammy Award at a special ceremony in Los Angeles. The award was given a day before the show to mark the death of the legend, who has achieved a milestone in Indian classical music.
His daughters remembered their father, who was excited to receive his awards. He knew about the awards before his death. However, he could not survive till the award ceremony. His spirit will always guide his daughters and disciples to take the Indian classical music to the highest level.
