Pakistani Hindu Families stranded in Delhi

While Pakistan keeps trying to indict India accusing of communal bias, 479 Pakistani Hindu refugees have refused to return to that country, citing rising extremism and ill treatment by the Pakistanis. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stepped in by extending their visa for one month.

The refugees had come to India on March 9 to take part in Maha Kumbh in Allahabad. But, it seems that they had already made up their mind. “We won’t return to Pakistan. If we are forcibly deported, it will be our dead bodies. We will prefer to die but won’t return,” they said.

The Pakistani Hindu families are taking refuge in a 28-room building owned by Nahar Singh in Brijwasan area in south Delhi. The group comprises of 86 men, 83 women and 311 children. According to the asylum seekers, Hindus are not safe in Pakistan, as their daughters are being abducted and forced to convert.

The Pakistanis also ask them to bury the dead instead of cremation. The plight of Hindus in Pakistan shows how that country treats the minorities. The Hindus constituted 22 per cent of Pakistan’s population in 1951. Now, they have been reduced to just less than two per cent.
