TNI Bureau: In a major setback to Odisha, spinner Saurabh Sehgal was barred from bowling by the on-field umpires for suspected bowling action. That proved too costly for the team, as Baroda piled up 290/6 at stumps on Day 2 in reply to Odisha’s first innings score of 181.
Saurabh was the only specialist spinner in the team. His exit from the bowling team on a wicket that assists the spinners, has allowed Baroda batsmen to score at ease.
For Baroda, Abhimanyu Chauhan scored 60, while Aditya Waghmode made 71. Skipper Ambati Rayudu scored 64. Pinal Shah made 50. For Odisha, Deepak Behera has taken three wickets, followed by Lagnajit Samal (2/76).
Saurabh Sehgal did not play in the first two matches. It’s surprising that he was chosen to play despite a suspected bowling action. The selectors in Odisha must answer this.
